It’s been a very long time since the show first aired—but over the past 33 years, the ghosts have not aged a day and their stories remain timeless. The Tower of London, first built in 1078, is rumored to be home to many of the city's most famous ghosts -- killed in a number of brutal ways. Visit the London Dungeon, in Southwark, to see all manner of ancient terrors acted out for tourists. And don’t forget the hidden burial grounds everywhere underfoot. So, if you find yourself in London on a dark evening, mind your step and keep a watchful eye for dark figures peering out from the shadows. These are a few of the many reports of apparitions and strange events at this luxury liner-turned-hotel.
Spooky Sailing Across America
Several people have reported seeing a little girl in this area, sometimes sucking her thumb and sometimes with a doll in hand. Whether or not the room is haunted by that little girl, we'll probably just choose to stay away. The historic Queen Mary is a stately ship-turned-hotel in Long Beach, California, with a haunted history. However, it is reputed to be one of the most haunted homes in America.
Ghost Tours
Truth be told, Inspiration’s Alchemy Bar lacked some of the charm found on other ships, feeling more like a theme set in an available space. But the drinks served were as creative as found elsewhere, and the mixologists were equally talented. Whether or not you ever had the pleasure of sailing this classic ship, it’s easy to imagine the sense of wonder and awe guests felt upon entering the beautiful atrium. The luxury liner RMS Queen Mary sailed the seas from 1936 until she retired to Long Beach California in the fall of 1967 as a permanently berthed attraction.
The Lady in White
Some have also spied the spirit of a young girl clutching her teddy bear. The Queen Mary’s engine room is located 50 feet below water level, which is said to be a hotbed of paranormal activity. Used in the filming of the Poseidon Adventure, the room’s infamous “Door 13” crushed at least two men to death at different points during the ship’s history. During a routine watertight door drill in 1966, the most recent death crushed an 18-year-old crew member. Dressed in blue coveralls and sporting a beard, the young man has often been spied walking the length of Shaft Alley before disappearing by door #13. Internationally recognized, the historic floating hotel and museum attract thousands of visitors annually.

Hatch Door #13
Tourist curiosity about the shipboard ghosts spurred the initiation of special ghost tours. Rich with history, Boston is an ideal spot to visit if you're looking for spooky fall fun. Ghost tours are offered if you'd like a more organized view of the city's dark past, and you just may get to enjoy some beautiful fall foliage while you're at it. Its duty to the war complete, the Queen Mary was refurbished and resumed her elegant cruises in July 1947, maintaining weekly service between Southampton, Cherbourg, and New York.

Consider supporting our work by becoming a member for as little as $5 a month. At the close of the war, the ship began to transport more than 22,000 war brides and their children to the United States and Canada. Known as the “Bride and Baby Voyages,” she made 13 voyages for this purpose in 1946. I'm your trusted confidante, your travel bestie, the one who whispers secrets about hidden luxury destinations. As you walk up to its massive black hull, you might feel the same rush of excitement that coursed through passengers the day it was launched.

Visitors to the area known as Shaft Alley sometimes report being followed by a bearded man in work overalls who disappears near door 13. News' six categories, this time for its presence in the Mediterranean. In every instance, it is followed by Seattle-based Seabourn Cruise Line, Carnival Corporation's ultra-luxury brand. To qualify for this category, at least 62% of a cruise line's online traveler reviews must be made by couples. It's part of the Royal Caribbean Group, which also operates Royal Caribbean International, which took home a "Silver Award" in this category.
Wild Life: Gynandromorphs
Some have even claimed to have had conversations with these apparitions, who seem to be reliving moments from their past lives. These spooky encounters add an extra thrill to the luxury experience of cruising and leave guests with lasting memories. The ship is reportedly haunted by over 100 spirits, the most infamous being the spirit of Stateroom B340, where paranormal activity is so frequent and intense that some members of the crew refuse to go inside.
A pre-cruise stay in the Battery Carriage House Inn, one of Charleston's notoriously creepy establishments, provides the opportunity to meet a dapper sprite known for lying down next to sleeping female guests. When you board a Carnival cruise ship in Long Beach, you’ll likely note the port's permanent resident, Queen Mary. This retired Cunard vessel-turned-hotel is notoriously said to be haunted by the ghosts of past passengers, crewmembers and military personnel who served on the ship in WWII (when it was fittingly nicknamed the Grey Ghost).
Whether or not you believe in ghosts (I put myself in the camp of “interested skeptics”), many visitors to the ship have reported unexplained noises, apparitions, disembodied voices, and more creepy phenomena. Join us aboard the Tall Ship Silva for an hour and a half cruise as we depart under a nighttime sky for an evening of unusual tales and haunting stories of Halifax’s past. Our resident storyteller will share forgotten stories of lost shipwrecks and the ghosts of Georges Island, and will shed some light on those things that go 'bump' in the night. This now-abandoned onboard pool was once the epitome of luxury with an illuminated fountain, a mother-of-pearl ceiling, and elaborate mosaic tiles. The pool is no longer in use because of California code issues, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the hotbeds of paranormal activity on the ship. This stateroom was a problem long before the Queen Mary opened as a hotel.
B340 was so notorious that hotel management closed the room in the mid-1980s and gutted it of all its furnishings. But still, people staying in adjacent rooms reported unusual noises and even apparitions disappearing through their guest room walls…into Room B340. Over the years, thousands of visitors and staff have reported seeing apparitions, hearing unexplained noises, or experiencing other potentially paranormal phenomena. The term “ghost ship” doesn’t always mean that a ship is haunted. It’s also what people call a ship that has been found with no crew. The U.S.S. Lexington is a large ship, known as an aircraft carrier.
Smaller cruise lines — with ships that fit hundreds rather than thousands of guests — dominated U.S. Some spirits are belived to haunt certain objects that were very special to them. I guess if a room on a cruise ship was a very special for the spirit, then its possible for it to hang around. I didn't believe in this stuff until I and other employees experienced some wierd stuff in a house that was over 100 yrs old that my company was renovating. I imagine a cruise ship room where a tragic event occured could also hold energy or whatever and be haunted.
